Get ready to raise your glass! Newport Vineyards Dry Rosé wins Best in Show at the 2021 Rosé Competition held in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on June 19th. Lead by the American Fine Wine Competition, The Rosé Competition received over 160 entries and the sixteen esteemed wine judges awarded 24 Double Gold Medals, 34 Gold Medals, and 75 Silver Medals. Newport Vineyards broke the mold as top winner from an unexpected Rhode Island winery.
Winemaker George Chelf, along with owners John and Paul Nunes have been perfecting their rosé portfolio for decades. The wine is comprised of cabernet franc, and has notes of red fruit, citrus, melon and rose petal. “Our microclimate just north of Newport is ideal for growing cool climate rosés. We’re excited to bring this recognition to the Rhode Island winery region,” said Winemaker George Chelf. Their Dry Rosé gained popularity over the ‘rosé boom’ during the last several years. Newport Vineyards also features a Pinot Noir Rosé and newly released Great White Rosé, in their portfolio.
