Barrel aging beers is for the adventurous brewers. The goal is to pair the style of beer and type of oak to develop complex, rich aromas and taste. Our brewing team has experimented with various pairings of barrels that have previously held numerous types of spirits and wines. Right now, Taproot Brewing Co. has a lineup with a variety of barrel-aged brews to try – perfect for these chilly spring nights in or by a bonfire!

The Bourbon Barrel Aged Porter is crafted in a Baltic Porter Lager style – and spent one year in Widow Jane bourbon barrels. Big bourbon flavor with notes of brandy, vanilla, fig, candied fruit, burnt sugar, and caramel. 12.5% ABV

Next, our Imperial Milk Stout was aged for one year in port and rye whiskey barrels. Notes of berries, bittersweet chocolate, and vanilla – with a silky spice finish. Contains lactose. 10.2% ABV

Our brewing team set aside some of our Belgian Tripel, a Monastery inspired ale made with local golden beets substituted for beet sugar – was aged in our very own Chardonnay barrels for 8 months to become the Tripel Reserve. Rich notes of vanilla and spice. Great one for a chilly night! 10% ABV

Select beers are available for flights and pours – pending availability. All offered in 750ml bottles to-go (the Good Friday is available in 16 oz cans – to grab a 4-pack or mix one to sample our other selections)! The Taproot Brewing Co. beers are available to pick up in our Marketplace during retail hours OR join us to enjoy with a flight / pint during taproom hours.

Plus, stay tuned for upcoming barrel releases – currently we have our popular seasonal “Wicked Squashed” Pumpkin Ale in bourbon barrels for a fall release, a new Imperial Porter, plus the return of our “Big Mac” Wee Heavy Scotch Ale – all currently maturing for future releases!
